Last Day?

Yesterday was the first day I heard about an 89 year old Minister from California, who leads a following, that predicted the end of the world TODAY. The beginning of the end... Judgement Day! He was specific. It would start at 6:00 p.m, beginning with a huge earthquake. Well, I knew better. We are told in the scriptures that no man knows the day or hour of the the Savior's second coming.

But it did give me cause to think and I asked myself a few questions. If this were the last day as we know it, was I personally prepared to weather the looming storms? I have my 72 hour kit, readily accessible, but needs updating with new food products. My car tank is empty. I have no cash on hand. I have some storage, but not long-term storage. Although I read my scriptures daily and feel like I am learning and progressing, I'm sure I don't always recognize the promptings of the Holy Ghost. I feel I have much more spiritual growth ahead of me. I need to put in much more effort in serving, showing gratitude, humility, and recognizing the Lord's voice. I wouldn't be ready today! Looks like I have some work ahead of me.

I thought about what the most important thing in my life was. There was no doubt... Family! My children and grandchildren are my greatest treasure. I love them, every last one of them. Out of all the possessions in my life, it is family I would want to be with, take with me, if it were the last day on earth.

Day 107 - a working helicopter

apr 17

Rocky Mountain Power is stringing the large 4" cable lines on the power poles right now with the help of a.... helicopter! It was amazing to watch. The way we do things today is another sign of the times!

Day 102 - Vandalism

apr 12

I never thought this would happen, or rather, I had hoped it would never happen! We have some vandals reeking all kinds of havoc on our new home construction. Sprinkler heads have been stolen, electrical wire cut, a sledge hammer taken to one of the bathtubs. And the vandals were brazen enough to yank hard enough on the furnace located in the bonus room. They pulled the copper wire right out of it. The wire was bent in several places, pipes were pulled down, and the furnace had to be repaired. And we haven't even used it yet!

It sickens me that we have people malicious enough in our area to do this. It is either the work of a mean-spirited person in the area, kids on the loose with nothing better to do, or a sub-contractor that didn't get the job he felt like he should have.

Our contractor said it may get worse before it gets better.... that's just the way it is!

Day 53 - Sign of the Times

feb 21
While checking up on the new house, we found a business card screwed to the front entrance. Work is hard to come by now-days, a Sign of the Times.
