Wicked winds tore through Northern Utah for two days.  I went with Kelsey to the Weber State Book Store and it looked like a war zone on campus.  Huge pine trees were uprooted everywhere.  Driving down Riverdale road was an eeiry site, as well.  All stores and shopping centers were closed.  No power!  Sometimes the conveniences of technology aren't always the best.

Beautiful Sardine Canyon!  I went to Logan today and took up the antique desk to my wood man to restore. The leaves were in full color.  It was spectacular!

Our neighbor, Donel Anderson, keeps a steady spray of water on his alfalfa field.  He will be going on his 3rd cutting.  The sprinkler rotates 360 degrees, shoots on the road, and we often get a soaking as we pass by. I don't mind, and I don't think the car minds either!

The monsoon usually does not make it as far north as we live, but this time it did.  I woke to thunderous, beating rain.  It came down in sheets.  It carved out new trenches in our orchard, flooded the barn, and made huge puddles of water that stayed around for an unusually long amount of time.  The weather report said it rained 2 1/2 inches in less than an hour's time.  We spent a couple of days wading in a river of water everywhere we went.  But, I loved it!  That is one thing I miss about living in Carbon County..... the monsoon rain in August.

A fierce Hail Storm pounded us for about a half hour this morning. Dark, eerie and ferocious clouds barreled down over the mountain range and released pea sized hail, pelting everything in it's path.  It was unbelievable!  Seeing the dark cloud swoop down and engulf our property seemed like the scene out of the Ten Commandments when the dark cloud wormed and  inched it's way through town, killing all of its firstborn (except those who had had the blood of the lamb).  I'll never forget this day!

It's hard to believe that tulips are still blooming!  Credit goes to Mother Nature and a very cold and wet Spring.

Still raining!

I stopped by Audrey's house today after spending the morning with Kelsey in Logan at the Cannery and shopping. It is cold and it is still raining!!! The temperature is only 48 degrees. It would be nice to have some warmth from the sun once in awhile, but I do love the rain and the effects it has on our surroundings. I love the reflection of the tree in the sidewalk and the grass is beautiful in its vivid green top coat. I am so glad Audrey is living in the little house in Brigham City. The street is the prettiest in town! Ok, so I'm prejudice.

Dry Lake

Audrey and I went to Logan today. We went shopping. Stores we visited were a new Antique Shop - About Time, Down East Outfitters, and Macey's (ice cream for the ride home). The banks of the Logan River were high with swift running water. Along 10th West, the water had overflowed into farm land and were threatening homes. It was quite a spectacular site.

On the way home, I got this picture of Dry Lake in Sardine Canyon. It's not so dry right now.... I love the reflection of the snow-topped mountains in the water. Sardine Canyon and Logan reminded me of the state of Washington. It was so green and just beautiful!

Spring Babies

Spring is in the air, even if the weather isn't cooperating! There are new baby calves, colts, lambs, chicks, and bunnies everywhere. I love the sights and sounds of baby animals.

Spring....new, beautiful, eventful, joyful, rebirth, hopeful, inspiring, uplifting, wonderful! Just like the Resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Here comes the Rain

The storm clouds gathered around 6:00 p.m. The sky grew dark and the rains came down. I got this picture of the rain making its way from the northwest.

It took me back home, to Carbon County, to those ferocious thunder and lightning storms followed by torrential rains. As terrifying as they were at times, I loved the show of lightning bolting across the sky and the loud sound of rolling thunder seconds later. The large expansive sky was filled with wonder and excitement. The earth seemed to echo the sound of thunder, shaking at the sound of its voice. Oh... how I loved those Spring storms!

Day 5: Eye Surgery

I heard thunder and lightning this morning while still in bed. Then came the hail! I love Spring storms!

When I woke up the sky was gray and dismal. A rainy, under the weather kind of day! Sort of how I'm feeling today.... bad sore throat, some body aches, and stuffed up nose. I thought I was going to beat the cold this season. I'll quickly load up on a healthy dose of Vitamin C and hopefully stop it in its track! Even though I don't feel very well, I love the rain anytime it wants to come. I got this picture of the rain comming down the rain gutter.

First of the Month - Sunset on Willard Bay

It's 5:50 p.m. and the sun is going down behind some clouds. It looks like I won't be getting a colorful sunset tonight. The grape vines are anxiously waiting a pruning job.

Bear River Eagle Migration

Every year during February about twenty eagles grace the large cottonwoods in Bear River City. Many are spotted in the trees as you enter town. I took this picture a couple of blocks from Kelsey's house by the Cemetery. This time of year brings much excitement to the area. They spellbound me with awesome wonder! They will stay here for a couple of weeks before migrating North.

Beautiful Winter Morning!

I woke up when it started to get light outside, as usual. It snowed last night and I got up to the most beautiful sight ever! The frost was still on the trees. I wanted to capture the awe and spectacularness of it all, so I got my camera out and snapped pictures at different times of the morning. I love how our orchard is still in the shadows while our neighbor's is in full sun (9:08 a.m.)

First of the Month - Sunset on Willard Bay

On Kelley's blog there is an invitation to participate in First of the Month. The object is to take a picture of the same scene, at the First of the Month, for an entire year. I'm not sure how to participate having a private blog, so I will just place it in my Photo Journal and enjoy it myself!

It was 5:30 p.m., and I took my camera out to my favorite spot in the orchard. It's here that I can capture the entire feel of the orchard, grapevines, life on the farm, and the peaceful setting of the sun on Willard Bay. It always takes my breath away. I can't believe I live in such a beautiful place! I am so excited to shoot this same scene eleven more times throughout the year! (Note: The sun was just setting when I went out to take this picture. By the time I got to my "shooting spot", the sun had dissapeared behind a cloud, making the picture a little dark. Hopefully, I will get a better shot next month.)

Snow Dusting

Today I woke up to a dusting of snow. It was pretty outside. The snow on the rocks lining the driveway was light and delicate. With a closer look, you could see individual snowflake crystals. The air was clear for a change. It brought the icy cold, but I didn't mind. Everything looked fresh and clean and the light from the sun brought the landscape to life again!

Day 161 - Rainbow

We've been getting a lot of rainstorms lately. After the storm, the most beautiful rainbows appear. They stretch in all their colors from the mountain tops through the freshly watered blue sky, or sometimes they expand in an arch over town, and in many cases we see double rainbows.

In this particular picture, the rainbow was rising verticle from the top of the mountain toward the sky. I cropped the picture to see just the rainbow, then I edited it with special effects features in Picnic (an awesome photo editing program).
