We have a new resident! We often seeing him sitting on the rock in between the waterfall and fire pit. Today, he brought a pear to feast on. After eating, the squirrel scurried off among the rocks and out into the orchard, leaving the rest of the pear for the next critter to munch on. We got up the next morning to find it all gone.

October 2, 2011
... General Conference, Canning Peaches, and Ousting a BIG Cat Face Spider. I consider that a totally productive weekend.

Shaniel was brave enough to spray the BIG Cat Face Spider from it's web and get rid of it once and for all!

Fire Pit
September 4, 2011
Kelsey and Audrey's families came up for the evening. We ate fresh peach cobbler and sat around the fire in our newly built fire pit, enjoying each other's company.

Nacho
August 9, 2011
Nacho, Brayden's kitten, found a spot a top the slide between the wooden bars. He seems to be adapting to his new family and environment quite well. The Bywater's have Amie to thank for the new family addition.

Lovely Old Bricks... a Story
August 3, 2011
Dad was born in Martin in an old brick home. Later in life, with a family of his own, he went back to that old brick home, tore it down, and salvaged all the lovely old brick.
He had us kids labor with the sweat of our brows... chipping the old cement away and cleaning them up for future use. They've been used in a variety of ways and in useful places.
One day when I was visiting mom and dad, I asked if I could take some and make a patio out of them. "Yes, you can", dad said. And so I hauled some of those lovely old bricks to my house in Brigham and built me a backyard patio out of them. When we sold the house, I took them all out, hauled them to Willard with me. Today the landscapers made a new place for them. They sit at the base of the rock wall and waterfall, just behind the hot tub in the back yard. I am going to put a planter of colorful flowers on them. Aren't the old bricks absolutely lovely!

A Kick in the Shin
Chad!
Saturday, July 23, 2011
He was feeding Ruby (his horse) and tried to skat away another horse that wanted to butt in. Chad wasn't going to have that, and the horse wasn't going to have that either. A kick in the shin from the disgruntled horse sent him away sore and limping.
And that's not the end of it! Monday morning at 3:00 a.m., bad luck happens again......
On a brighter note, Dave and I went to a unique shop, The Cannery, in North Ogden, and bought a hot tub for the basement patio. It's going to be nice!

Making of a Fire Pit
Friday, July 15, 2011
The landscapers worked on the fire pit today. They are placing large flat rock, for seating, around the perimeter. Capstones will be placed on top of them. Flagstone will make up the floor, and we have yet to determine what and how the actual fire pit will look. Decisions, decisions!
