Dot's Glorified Nachos, crackers and cheeseballs, chips and dip, shrimp and cocktail sauce, veggies and olives, potato soup and rolls, and Fat Man's Delight filled our tummies.

Dance 3, playing pool, soaking in the hot tub, watching the ball drop in Times Square (for 10 seconds), and finally.....  3, 2 1.... pull the confetti poppers and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Just Married!

Last weekend while I was in Price, I was on my way to Parkdale from mom's house when I came upon this delightful sight.  A wagon pulled by Clydesdale horses, tin cans trailing the back, a "Just Married!" sign, cowboy hats and cowboys.  Now, that's what I call a good old-fashioned way to go!  

Sparklers are for birthdays... just ask grandpa!

It was a day of celebration!  We had a welcome home BBQ for Dave, and a birthday party for Hailie.  She turned 8 years old today.  For a candle, we put a sparkler (it all started with grandpa in Alaska!) in the top cupcake.  It was a festive 4th of July weekend.  Lots of kids, grandkids, and fun!  All was here to help in the celebrations except Korrine's family.

Day 184 - Celebrations

Today is a day of celebrations.... Hailie turns 7 years old today. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! love, grandma



The 4th of July Parade in Kaysville with the A&MM family was fun.... especially watching the little one!

Doesn't that little wrinkled up nose remind you of another picture, another kiddie, but same adult?

Day 125 - Cinco de Mayo....

meaning "fifth of May" in Spanish. It is not the Mexico's independence day, but a celebration that actually started in the United States to honor Mexican heritage.

We found ourselves in the middle of Cinco de Mayo in Old Downtown Las Vegas. The old strip has been converted into a walking mall of sorts and is covered with a large expansive half circle screen where light shows, entertainers, and even tourists can been seen. At one time, they shut off all the lights, started up some music and a spectacular light show could be seen from one end of the strip to the other. For dinner, we made our way to a nearby restaurant and had prime rib dinner for $5.99. Cheap meals are Las Vegas' trade mark! Isn't that why we really go to Vegas!!

day 121 - Nicole's Baptism day

Granddaughter, Nicole Christensen, was baptized and confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints today. A beautiful occasion; a beautiful girl! I am so proud of her!

Day 112 - Picnic send-off party!

After a long day's work on the farm, Dave came home to a picnic party with the family. We had cheese and chicken enchilada's, chips and Mexican seven-layer dip, frog eye salad, raspberry lemonade, and bananna splits for dessert. We played "Couch" and enjoyed a nice relaxing evening with the kids.

Day 76 - a parade for St. Patty

While waiting for the other party members last Saturday, we had some time to kill and decided to walk over to the Gateway. St. Patty's parade was winding its way down the center street. This is a view from the upper level. I changed the photo to black and white and wanted to add some green back in, but couldn't figure it out.

Would someone be so kind to tell me how it's done!

Day 69 - 100 Dresses

The sisters came through and donated 100 dresses and much, much more! And this is only half of it. Our R.S. birthday dinner was a huge success.... many thanks to generous donations. Our adopted sister branch was most grateful!

day 68 - Tea, if you please!

Or rather.... hot chocolate. Audrey invited me to her R.S. (Relief Society) birthday party social and is seen pouring her mother a cup. The tea was lovely! We enjoyed fancy finger cream cheese and cucumber sandwiches, chicken salad sandwiches, poppy seed lemon scones, raspberry and apricot jam, and delicate desserts (mini cupcakes filled with chocolate moose, powdered donut holes, and chocolate peanut almond bars.

We also enjoyed a fashion show of the decades. The Young Women fashioned the clothing, and a sister born from each decade amused us with wit and facts. She also shared her testimony of R.S. The oldest sister was 98 years old.... and she was a hoot! You would have thought she 40 years younger. I was thoroughly entertained and impressed.

Thanks Audrey for inviting your mother to an outstanding tea!

day 65 - CTR

A new CTR (choose the right) ring, a set of scriptures, and a hand-made scripture case from his mother made for a perfect ending to a very perfect day..... Brayden's baptism. Congratulations young man!

Day 47 - Fat Tuesday

The Mr. served an LDS mission in Louisiana and fell in love with the people and the culture while there. Mardi Gras is an important event celebrated annually in New Orleans, the accumulation of which takes place on Fat Tuesday. Several years ago we went to Mardi Gras.... it was a wild adventure! And no! we didn't need to go down Bourbon Street to get the full effect. We ate craw fish and jambalaya; attended music fests and parades. If you received a painted coconut from one of the floats going by, that was a big deal! So here is my big deal! Caught lots of colorful beads... tons of fun!
