March 1 - Three Little Firemen
It was a good day to spend at the Treehouse Museum. One of our favorite places to play! These three little firemen are off to put out a fire!
March 2 - I want to be a Baker!
A school fair was held today. Alia wants to be a "Baker" when she grows up. She had to do some research, conduct interviews, and make a poster. I think she fits this into this job quite well!
James has his own little window in his stroller. He often had to turn around to look out the window to see what was going on behind him. He loves to be in the center of it all.
It's the best one I love
On our way back from the school, we saw the back yard of the Mecham's new house. Here's another great two sentence conversation. The ones that are priceless.
Grandma: Whose house it that?
Emilee: My house! It's the best one I love!
Oh... sweet Emmy. I just love her innocence.
March 4 - Birthday Brunch
Instead of going out for Shaniel's birthday, we decided to have brunch at my house. It was delightfully delicious. Waffles, ham, fresh fruit, orange juice, and cupcakes. We sang Happy Birthday to our sweet Shaniel who is remembered with love and affection and remains forever in our hearts. We painted our fingernails purple and
Pinkie Promised... Shaniel...
A beautiful gift today. New blossoms on dad's Christmas cactus. For Shaniel. I love these tender mercies sent from God. This was the most unusal thing to see happen. What a blessing! Thank you dear Father.
March 6 - Liahona
I love our Book of Mormon Family Home Evenings. Our family... acting as Lehi's family, discovered the Liahona today outside our tent door.
The lesson: When we act in faith it points the way to the promised land. As we wandered in the wilderness, Nephi broke his bow but remained faithful and positive. He makes a new one and is able hunt for wild animals to feed his family.
We had quite the adventure with Lehi's family.
Sweet Emmy
Emilee chose the "The Tale of Three Trees" book to read. It's one of the grandkid's favorites, and mine, too.
March 10 - Craft Day
I went to Audrey's today. I painted wooden heads for our fairies, and Ben and Emilee made play dough creations. Everyone needs a little break from every day once in awhile!
March 11 - Four Little Firemen
Today, we added another little fireman. Alia was feeling rather left out from the fun so we promised to take her to the Treehouse Museum today with the other kids. Emilee is driving the Fire Truck today.
March 15 - Just like Mother
We celebrated the organization of Relief Society with a dinner and a program. Each General R.S. President was highlighted for the contributions they made while serving her term. I represented Sister Barbara B. Smith, 10th Relief Society President. She served the women of the church from 1974 - 1984. I wore the perfect outfit. Mom's blue dress and red coat. I even put on some of her red lipstick. I felt beautiful... just like my mother!
March 17 - St. Patrick's Day
I am always so thankful that Audrey is home with her children and that she loves for me to come and spend time and do fun things with them. Any time a holiday presents itself, I'm all in! Today, we built a rainbow of fresh fruit, ate finger peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, dunked oreo's in milk, and ate mint chocolate cake. The kids found a green surprise tucked underneath the lid of the pot 'o gold.
No pinches today! James sported his green binky, Ben... his green plate, and Emmy... a hidden bit of green in her clothes. Grandma wore her green, too.
March 20 - Provo City Temple Dedication
It was a beautiful day to participate in the dedication of the most recent temple built. The Provo City Center Temple. I was sitting in the congregation, listening to the talks, enjoying the music, and pondering on those things that only the spirit can teach you. I closed my eyes at one point and an image began to appear in my mind in front of my eyes. At first I couldn't make it out, but I re-opened my eyes and shut them again to see if I could see it again, or if it was just my imagination. I did see it! Over and over again. The image of Christ's face appeared. It became clear after a few times. A specific image that was always the same. It seemed to be a type of pencil sketch. His head was slightly bent and looking downward. It changed from a left view to a right view a couple of times. I knew I had seen the picture before and as soon as I could make a visit to Desert Book I found the exact same image that came to my mind's view over and over again. This painting was done by a German Artist, Heinrich Hoffman (1824-1911). He truly was inspired! I will always know what my Savior looks like. Always!
What was the purpose of me seeing His image? Was it to provide a testimony that the temple, is indeed, His holy house here upon the earth? That He watches over His church and His people that have taken upon them His name?
I know it was significant for me. How grateful I am to have had this experience. To know the Savior is indeed, Lord and God of this world. That He has a holy house to come to on earth. That He watches over and cares for me individually and all God's children. I love Him and I know He loves me!
March 26 - Newest family member to join the church
Clint is the newest member of our family to be baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The story of his conversion is truly miraculous and inspiring. His conversion has strengthened my testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Conversion changes you for the good. You are never the same!
There were many family members, ward members, and friends who came to support Clint in his decision to be baptized. He chose Easter weekend because it would be very meaningful to him. Not only because it represents the Resurrection of Christ, but that it no longer represents what it once was for Clint. No more partying in the desert. It has now become a sacred, solemn occasion.
Elder and Sister Myers, Stake Senior missionaries, taught the gospel to Clint weekly and prepared him for baptism. Cody, his best friend, baptized him a member of the church on Saturday, and on Sunday he was confirmed a member of the church and received the gift of the Holy Ghost by Chad Bywater (brother-in-law).
Eastering on the Desert
This was one of the best Easter outings I can ever remember. Clint and Amie took us out on the desert to see a dinosaur track, look at petroglyphs from ancient civilization, and swing on the swinging bridge.
We found a spot to build a fire and roast peeps and smores.... fudge stripped cookies with marshmallows in between. Clever! We climbed red rocks as high as the sky, hiked to where only an echo could be heard, and had the ultimate Easter Egg hunt. What an adventure!
March 27 - Easter Sunday
Family Picture
Elder and Sister Myers
After Sacrament Meeting and Clint's confirmation, we ended our wonderful weekend at the park. It was cold! It was windy! We ate our subway sandwiches fast. The kids played on the playground until we couldn't take it anymore. And then we parted ways.
Thank you Clint and Amie for one of the best weekends I can remember!
My aching heart
We stopped at Steve's grave in Cleveland on the way home. Chad was disgruntled by the cross on his grave and the lack of care. He and Makaela softened the dirt heaped upon his grave with the soles of their shoes.
Steve... we care! We love you! We miss you! My heart aches for you son.
March 31 - Comfort food
Time for some comfort food. I can always depend on mom's Goulash to provide that. And I always think about it as Shaniel's last meal with us at her request. Oh...... heart.
The Treasure Box
All grandmother's need a treasure box to fill with treasures, don't you think?
I have had a box that looks like a book. It stays fastened like a lock and key on a diary book. It has sat on my bookshelf for probably ten years or so. One day Ben climbed the library ladder, got it down, and discovered something really unique about it. It opened up like a treasure box! In all his excitement he came running up to me and said...
"Look Grandma, a Treasure Box!"
I quickly filled it up with candy, a favorite kind of treasure, and gave it back to the kids to open. And... the rest is history!
Now, every time the kiddos come to Grandma's house, the first thing they go to is the Treasure Box on the bookshelf!
How many Easter Bunnies?
How many bunnies do I have in my house? Ten in all! Happy Easter!
Sweet Remembrances
The Easter Lily will always remind me of mom, home, and the true meaning of Easter. I loved dressing up in new dresses and hats every year and attending church services as a family. Celebrating the Resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ was our focus, even though we enjoyed the early morning thrill of hunting for Easter baskets filled to the brim with candy.
The pure white Easter lily has the most wonderful fragrance. This year Alia said, "Grandma, have you smelled your flower? It smells so good!" ....carrying on the tradition.
Spring Snow
You can always count on a Spring snow storm in Utah. Always!
On the Farm
Spring chores on the Daniels Farm include: pruning fruit trees, blackberry bushes, and grapes. Gathering branches, burning branches, cultivating the ground, planting new trees, and thinning fruit. Cleaning the pond of debris and getting the irrigation system ready to do its job.
In the Orchard
Then we sit back and watch the blossoms burst open in a beautiful sea of white and pink. Oh... how lovely is the Spring on the Daniels Farm!

March Birthdays
My daughter Shaniel. Birthdate - March 4, 1980
It seems only like yesterday we were engaged in planning and playing and doing all the things that mothers and daughters do every day. Yet... it's been over 3 years since we made our "pinky promise" to get together once a year for a get-away trip. Just us girls! It's so hard to believe that it wouldn't be. Not for us.
My heart aches to see your smile, hear your laugh, receive counsel for tech stuff, medical stuff, and garden stuff. I miss you. I love you. And as soon as I get to heaven you can be sure we will "pinky promise" once again... and the heavens and the earth will be ours to explore together. No limits and no going away ever again. Happy Birthday sweet Angel of mine!
