April

Oh, how fresh the wind is blowing!
See! The sky is bright and clear,
Oh, how green the grass is growing!
April! April! Are you here?

April 1 - Shaniel Garden

Valley View Nursery came up today to look at the space around the pergola. They are designing a Shaniel Garden for me. Purple Wisteria is my choice of flowering vine. I can't wait to have it planted and growing. And, I am excited to see what other plants they are incorporating into the design. They suggested we have an extension of the pergola built on the front of it to provide a grand entrance. It will be like a mini arbor, creating a secret doorway with cascading Wisteria.

I am so very grateful for the people at Valley View Nursery for designing my Shaniel Garden for free. They are also designing Kesley's Shaniel Garden for free. They were so touched by her death that they wanted to do something special. And... this is indeed, very, very special!

April 2 - Jasmin

Makaela's new horse. Jasmin. She is slightly smaller than the average horse. She has been a 4-H horse for years so she is very gentle and good for kids. Makeala is excited to have her very own horse.

April 4 - Hogle Zoo

Kelsey, the kiddos, and I usually do something fun every year for Spring Break. This year we went to Hogle Zoo. Fun and entertaining!

It was a nice, slightly cool day. Just right for the occasion. The animals were out and about.

The Polar Bear is my favorite. He swims on his back, takes a dive under water, pushes off one huge bolder to the other, and comes back up near the viewing glass. He then starts the routine over again. He is very entertaining.

I got a picture of the Rhinos... butt ends. I looked at the rock they were standing next to, and lo and behold... it had the exact same butt look! Funny!

The tiger also entertained us today. He jumped in the pond with his large ball and gave us a show.

April 5 - Fifty Five...55

Dave caught up to me again. In age, that is. He turned 55 years old today. I fixed him dinner and treated him to a movie.

Jarrett is telling him a chicken story in the above picture. Taken at Thanksgiving Point.

April 9 - Invitation

Time to get the invitations made and sent out for the Mad Hatter's Tea Party and stroll through the tulip gardens at Thanksgiving Point. Making the invitations is always one of best parts of planning an event. My creative side comes out. I even surprise myself sometimes. We will be going on Saturday, April 27.

April 12 - Seven Months

This little dolly is as cute as a button! She sits up, rolls, twists, turns, and stretches to get what she wants. She is eating real "baby" food now. She has 3 bottom teeth. Still... always smiling. Always happy. Has big, curious, laughing, sparkling eyes that I just can't get enough of.

April 13 - Piano Recital

Makaela's first piano recital. She did very well.

April 15 - Mad Hatter Hats

Audrey and kiddos came down today. We made Mad Hatter hats today for each of the kids for the Tea Party. We sprayed them different colors. Alia and Ben were a big help and lined them up in the garage to dry. Alia helped her mother design her hat. She did a good job.

Candy Snatcher!

On the way out the door, Ben grabbed a hand full of candy. He is a sweet nut! I love that little guy. He makes me laugh. He makes me so happy. I bagged up the rest of the Easter candy and sent it home with him.

April 25 - Audrey and Emilee

Baby Love! I love to watch Audrey love her baby girl.

April 26 - Eat Me... Drink Me

A day before the Tea Party, I frosted the mini cupcakes (I don't think I will do that again!), and made the "Eat Me", and "Drink Me" tags. I also made the chicken salad for the sandwiches and packed everything up. The hardest part was now behind me.

April 27 - Tea Party

The Tulip Festival didn't disappoint, as usual. The tulips were out in full bloom. Just beautiful! The Mad Hatter's Tea Party, prior to going through the garden, was fun. The kids all put on their hats for pictures. Makaela and Riley dared to drink the curious beverage. Humm... will they shrink, or will they grow? For some reason, that really stuck out in Alia's mind, the drink me beverage. A little mysterious. A little magical. Audrey said she has talked about that since the party.

There were a lot of people at Thanksgiving Point. Insane! Upon leaving the secret garden, we left without Ben. Audrey thought I had him. I didn't. We both panicked. It was frightening. There were so many things that ran through my head. Lost, stolen, crying, frightened. We would never find him! He would be gone forever. It would change our lives forever. I couldn't stand the thought. We raced back to the secret garden. Audrey could not see him. I looked. My eyes seemed to focus on a spot. Ben! Oh, Ben! It was him. I raced around the fountain where he was standing. Oblivious to anything around him, he was playing happily in the spouting water. I hugged him. I was so happy and so thankful we found him so quickly. It could have turned out very different. Father In Heaven was looking out for us!

I gave each of the family's an Alice in Wonderland book. Misty sent me a recording of Hailie reading the story to her dad. They had a curious and interesting conversation about the way the characters talked in the book. I enjoyed listening to them.

April Birthdays

Dave turned 55 years old on April 5th.

He is handsome, awesome in every way, and loves to spoil me.... and he's all mine! Love this man.

Thanks for inviting us. It was a nice day. My boys had so much fun. When we were driving home, daxton asked me when we will get to see your cousins again? I miss them. They had so much fun with Riley, Carson, Braden and Jarrett. They can't wait to play with them again.

the tulip festival was so much fun, I'm glad we went. It looks like you and Audrey had a lot of fun moments together this month. Annie says Audrey is moving in with you, then you'll have a lot of time with those little cuties :) Looks like Makalie had a good month too. I'm excited to see how your garden turns out.
