Angel Moroni

Tuesday, July 12, 2011

We watched Angel Moroni get placed on the temple spire today.  What started out as a rainy, gray day, ended up bright and sunny!  The placement  of Angel Moroni was scheduled to take place at 12:00 noon.

Audrey, the kiddos and I walked up at 10:30 a.m. and found the perfect spot on the Tabernacle lawn across from the Temple.  Dave and Kelsey's family soon joined us.

High noon came and went.  It was too windy and unsafe for the men to work that high in the air so it was postponed until the wind died down.  Audrey and Kelsey made a mad dash to The Old Grist Mill, a sandwich shop, and purchased lunch for us.  Before the kids got back with lunch, the wind died down and the men went up.  Soon, the trumpet (horn) sounded for the go ahead.  Cheers of joy spread through the anxious crowd. Angel Moroni rose from the ground up (with the help of the crane).  It took awhile to place and secure him. In the meantime, the kids and Dave all made it back. Music, from the Tabernacle, filled the air as this heavenly event took place. After Angel Moroni was secured, another round of trumpet calls were made.  The roar of the crowd went up again and awe, wonder, excitement, and gratitude could be felt all around.

After the event, we let the kids wade in the ditch in front of the Tabernacle.  It was fun watching the kids, and numerous other children, lose themselves in the excitement of the special occasion.  It felt much like the day of the groundbreaking.... taken back in time to another era.  Time stood still, no cares!  It was nice to be in that moment and soak it all in.

It was a wonderful, sacred, once in a life time experience that I will never forget and will cherish forever!

I actually did take this picture of Angel Moroni!
