Trek

Monday, June 27, 2011

Kelsey took me to Odgen today with her.  It gave us a chance to talk and catch up on some things we have both been doing.  We went to WinCo, a new, huge warehouse type grocery store in Odgen.  I wasn't watching my step up to the sidewalk and biffed it!  That was a little embarrasing.  Good thing I didn't get hurt.  Kelsey would have had to give me treatment there on the sidewalk in front of the store!

When we got back to the house and found all was well with Makaela and Brayden... yep, we left them at the house by themselves because they didn't want to go to Ogden, Kelsey sat down and told me all about Trek.

Their ward recently spent half a week at Martins Cove walking the Willie Martin trail in Wyoming.  Kelsey and Chad went as a Ma and Pa and was able to take Makaela and Brayden with them.  She shared everything, from start to finish.  It was such a blessing to hear her share her experiences and testimony.  Tears welled up in our eyes as she related all the spiritual lessons she learned along the way.  Makaela and Brayden also shared some of their personal experiences with me.  It was such a joy to hear!

At the end of the experience they had a testimony meeting.  Makaela said she just couldn't contain herself any longer and the spirit pushed her up.  She was able to share her testimony with the rest of the group.  Kelsey was so proud of her, and so am I.  She is becoming quite a young woman.  Before going, Kelsey had studied the life of Sarah Moulton, a grandmother several generations ago, and felt a kinship to her as she walked the trail.

Kelsey and Chad were asked to talk in Sacrament Meeting about the experience.  Kelsey is so in tune with the spirit all the time.... she knew they would be speaking before they were asked and she knew what she was suppose to talk about.  Faith and Eternal Families!

Kelsey also shared her experience with her brothers and sisters last weekend on their annual camping trip with their dad.  Excitement built and soon everyone was on board to go on Trek, in anticipation of having some of the same experiences.  Chad had written some Cowboy Poetry while on Trek and shared that, as well.

So that means we have one year to prepare!   Can't wait!

it is a memorable experience. If you want to look at some of my materials from when Kerry and I went to training for the trek I'd be happy to share.
