Audrey's family came up a week before Easter this year. Baby is scheduled for delivery on April 12th, so we thought this would be easier.
We colored eggs. We ate our traditional Easter meal, which I love! Ham, funeral potatoes, asparagus, cooked carrots, green salad, and rolls.
The Easter egg hunt was indoors... again to make it easier on Audrey. After the Easter egg hunt, the kids took their colored eggs outdoors and rolled them down the hill. I love this tradition, and this year was especially fun.
During the course of rolling eggs, it started to rain... then hail. James had a reaction that had us all laughing. He immediately covered his head and ran for the house as fast as he could! The expression on his face said it all... scared, confused, surprised! It reminded me of "chicken little" when he said "the sky is falling!" After James found himself safely tucked inside the house, he ventured out ever so slowly to watch the hail race from the sky.
Watching a child experience something for the first time is one of those wonderful treasures that warms your heart and finds a spot in your memory bank, never to be forgotten.
April 4 - Bird feeders
Alia, Ben, and Emilee made bird feeders out of toilet paper rolls, peanut butter and bird seed. Now hoping to see a few birds fly in for a treat!
April 5 - Dave's birthday
I took Dave to a Japanese Grill in Logan today for his birthday. Dinner was grilled at our table and the staff sang Happy Birthday! Dave turned 59 years old. He has almost caught up to me!
April 9 - Spring Snow
A skiff of Spring snow is always a pretty sight.
April 10 - Graduation picture
Kelsey came up today for me to take a graduation picture of her. Wow! She is almost done. I can't believe it. It's been a long and hard three years. Her perseverance, dedication, and drive is paying off! Once Kelsey sets a goal, she achieves it! She is one incredible woman and I'm proud to call her my daughter.
April 12 - Levi Steven Mecham
The newest member of our family entered the world right on schedule! He was born big and healthy with lots of dark brown hair. The time of his arrival was 12:40 p.m. He weighed 8 lbs. 9 oz. and was 19 3/4 inches long.
Welcome to the world Levi! We love you already!
April 13 - Alia and Ben
I stayed with the kids for a couple of days while Audrey was at the hospital. She likes Mike to stay with her, which benefits me, as well! This morning when I sent Ben and Alia off to school, they stopped to wave to us and then went on their way... Ben following close behind following every move Alia made. Skipping and hoping and jumping and running. It made me smile. Audrey and Mike's new house is located conveniently around the corner from the school. You can watch the kids walk to school every day because it's in their back yard. It can't get any better than that!
Mom's rules! Alia follows them and makes sure her brothers and sister follow them to a tee, too!
Smarty Pants field trip
Smarty Pants Preschool is always doing something fun. Today, we went on a field trip to the North Ogden fire station that is just up the road. Emilee was quiet and content to watch the other kids practice fire safety drills, but enjoyed wearing a hat and seeing the fire truck. I got her to pose in front of the minnion fire hydrant before leaving. Fun day!
April 14 - Homecoming
Can't tell the newest member of this family is loved, can you! The kids could hardly wait for baby Levi to come home. Each had a turn holding and kissing him before mom stole him back. Levi is going to be smothered with lots of kisses and love from his family. Precious!
Ben's Cross Stitch
Ben worked diligently on a cross stitch project on his kindle. He wanted to get it done before Levi came home. And he did! Grandma is impressed.
April 15 - Easter Sunday
Kelsey's family came up today for Easter Sunday dinner. We had our same traditional dinner, as when Audrey came up. Yummy!
Brayden is obsessed with Dave's army gear and other items collected in his travels. He found a gas mask to wear. He is funny! Makes him look like an Alien.
April 19 - One week old
Levi is a week old today... precious!
April 23 - Yard Work
Makaela invited a couple of her guy friends up to help clean the yard in preparation for Kelsey's graduation party. Chad pressure washed the deck, patio and pergola and the kids pulled weeds and cleaned up the fire pit. A good old fashioned bbq was the reward for an evening of clean-up.
Dave got out his "gas gun" to start a fire in the fire pit. Just the kind of thing Brayden would devour. And he did!
The Easter Lily
Can't have Easter without the Easter Lily. The fragrance is so delightful and conjures up the sweetest memories of home. I really miss mom this time of year. Easter was so special growing up. Centering Easter on Christ taught me to love Christ and understand the importance of His atonement and resurrection... an eternal gift of love. The Easter lily reminds me of the truths I was taught by my mother.
Property next door
It looks like Dave will be planting new trees shortly. Management of the gravel pit approached Dave and asked him if he would plant trees on the property next door to us. Of course he would! He has been wanting to for a few years now. We went on a 4-wheeler ride to the big rock, where he, and another farmer (Riley) would plant the trees to. The ride was very bumpy. The ground had been roughly plowed and it left deep furrows and ruts. But it was worth it once we climbed upon the rock to look back across the field toward our property. Now... looking forward to planting trees. Lots of trees. Good luck Dave! Your'e going to need it!
