March

March 1 - Random Play

I stopped by Audrey's house today. And what did I find? Four little kids at play in the backyard.
Ben was digging out a tree stump (his play is work!) He found a worm in all his digging.
Alia was climbing and bouncing and swinging on trees like a monkey!
Emilee and James was playing on the roller coaster and blowing bubbles.
It's so fun to watch their personalities come out in play. So like all of them!

March 2 - Dr. Suess Day

Spent the afternoon making Dr. Suess's Cat in the Hat treats and reading books. Another fun day with the grandkids.

Activities Day

Alia went to Activities Day and came back with a beautiful new dress on... made from a large trash bag and colorful duck tape. Oh my! She sure does love her activity days. I can see why!

A new baby

I love Spring! It's the season for new babies, new blooms, and all things beginning new again. Our neighbor's, the Anderson's, welcomed a new baby to their farm this morning. The baby calf is as black as can be, just like his mom. What a wonderful sight! It made my heart smile as it brought back memories of home growing up. Every Spring we had babies born on our small farm.

March 3 - Jr. Prom

'Tis the season of Prom. I took a trip to Price to watch the grandkids do their promenade. It was spectacular! Emery High knows how to put on a dance!

Before Prom, Morgann came to Amie's house and got ready to go. I so enjoyed the little bit I was able to help her. It was a priceless gift for me. Thank you Morgann!

Each of the kids brought their dates to the house for pictures. I thoroughly loved watching the boys open the doors for their dates. What gentlemen!

Wayne and his date, Brooklyn

Nicole

I found out today just how well Nicole can sing. She attended a singing competition in Price today. Her and a couple of friends sang. We were alone in the house and she serenaded me. What a pleasant surprise! I'm so proud of her!

Graves

A trip to Price is a trip to the cemeteries. I always make time to visit Steve's and Shaniel's graves. Unfortunately, it is always a reminder that they left us far too soon. It is so sad to me. But in  sadness there is also joy... so much joy! For the time we had with them and for the cherished memories that will never be forgotten. I have no regrets when they passed. Both knew how much their mother loved them. Death can not break those bonds. Not ever! I will be so happy to see and love them again. They are forever in my heart and mind.

March 4 - Another Prom

Makaela and her date, Bryant

Makaela's Jr. Prom was tonight, so I had to hurry on home from Price. Bear River High put on a very nice Promenade, as well. Makaela was beautiful, as usual. I loved her dress. Her hair. Her smile. She always makes me smile!

March 8 - SeaQuest Aquarium

What do you do when it's Spring break? You go on a Day Adventure! Audrey and I went to SeaQuest, an Aquarium at the Layton Hills Mall. This is the first time I had ever went, and I was in for a pleasant experience! The Aquarium was very family friendly and interactive. There were colorful fish and other sea creatures all on display in unique settings. You could go into designed areas and interact with lizards, snakes, and birds. My favorite part were the birds. Not for James! He was terrified of the birds landing on his mother's arm.

March 17 - St. Patrick's Day

The Mecham's set a Leprechaun trap and when they woke up in the morning they found traces and evidence of the little fellow's visit. The kids all had their green on when I saw them. No pinches for them today!

March 18 - Hat Shower

Jenny and her siblings gave Rachel a Hat Shower today in Santiquin. Kelsey and I went down. Audrey had sick kids and couldn't go.

Each guest brought a themed basket filled with items to auction off, having all proceeds go to Rachel and her mounting medical bills for cancer treatment. It was a huge success!

Our family donated a Canning Basket, which included a canner, Ball Blue Book, and all the items necessary for a beginner canning experience. We also donated a bushel of peaches and Audrey made some handmade dish cloths and scrubbers. The auction was silent and proved to generate good results. Jenny wanted our basket, and got it!

There was a goodie table, beautifully decorated and yummy to the tummy. Entertainment was provided by several different musicians. Ben Jones, a cousin, being one of them.

Any help, however little it may be, is always appreciated by Rachel. She radiates gratitude and has a positive spirit. She is truly an inspiring woman.

March 20 - Apricot Blossoms

The apricot trees are adorned with beautiful white, fragrant blossoms. It looks like a sea of white popcorn when looking out the window.
Love it!

March 24 - Plowing the Orchard

Part of Spring's work is plowing the orchard and gathering up branches from pruned fruit trees. Dave has it down! It doesn't take him long to have the orchard cleaned up.

March 25 - General Women's Conference

This is Alia's second year to attend Women's General Conference with her mother and I. We usually attend the conference at Audrey's stake center and then go out afterwards for ice cream. We noticed that everyone else does too! We avoided Kirt's Family Drive In in No. Ogden this year and went to Arctic Circle instead. Much better decision!

We listened to wonderful messages of inspiration to help strengthen us as women in today's challenging times.

March 31 - Final Project

Chad and Kelsey... go Utes!

Dave and I went to the University of Utah to support Kelsey in her final project. She displayed and answered questions on her chosen project... Screening for Intimate Partner Violence in Primary Care. Her project was inspired by the death of her sister Shaniel, whose life was taken by her husband, from an act of domestic violence.

Kelsey is an inspiration! When she receives a prompting to do something... she never hesitates. She goes into full action. A few years ago she felt like she needed to get her nurse practitioner degree. It wasn't an easy start. In fact, she did not get into the program the first year she applied. Little did she know that her sister would be murdered. The Lord knew she would need the coming year to grieve her sister's death and prepare herself for the next year's acceptance into the program. I am so proud of Kelsey! She is a shining light and example for her siblings and all those who come in contact with her.

Girl Scout Cookies

I guess you can't tell I like Girl Scout cookies!
