How to refinish a dinning room chair and upholster the cushion

Wednesday, June 15, 2011
  1. willing kids and grand kids
  2. sand down old paint, using a mouse electric sander and course sand paper) on chairs and paint using a high gloss paint.  We went from dark green to fancy black (thanks Amie!)
  3. take off old cushions with electric screwdriver
  4. take off only ONE chair cushion using nose pliers, nail lifter, staple remover, scissors and anything else that might work! (thanks Audrey!)  Now, that you did all that work... take note and just recover the old upholstery on the rest of the chairs and save yourself hours and hard work, but make sure it is not stained and is in very good condition
  5. measure and cut selected fabric to cushion, using tape measure if needed (thanks Alia, for helping grandma and mommy!)
  6. stretch fabric over cushion and staple in place using a heavy duty staple gun and staples
  7. trim excess fabric
  8. model chair cushion  (don't you just love my little model!)
  9. screw cushion on painted chair
  10. admire end results..... Whoo hooo!
