Fig Tree

Sunday, March 20, 2011

Family Home Evening....
  1. potato bar - black bean chili, broccoli, cheese, sour cream, bacon bits, mushrooms, green salad
  2. Kelsey - gives a preparedness lesson to start the evening off. This week was on the Parable of the Fig Tree. We took turns putting the leaves on the Fig tree. It isn't hard to see that the Second Coming is nigh! The main point... if we are prepared, we will not fear.
  3. Carol - lesson on providing missionary service to our family members who need a hand-up. We are giving Amie's family an LDS Book of Mormon for Families and sharing our testimonies with Clint. For the activity, we put red dots on the world globe where each member of the Bates Family has served.

Did you know that Kelsey and Chad were ward missionaries, and Chad ward mission leader? Audrey went on splits with the missionaries while living in Price. Add them to Dave and Mike, and we have 5 missionaries in my own family!

Dessert - Strawberry Shortcake, and Kelsey's traditional favorite.... German Chocolate cake

What a creative idea. I wish my brain would think more in that direction.

We have started FHE every 3rd sunday of the month at Moms. I do a very short emergency preparedness lesson. Then Mom does a lesson from the New Testiment. Of course we alsways do dinner. It has become a fun new tradition.
